Locality
A two minute walk up the quiet, private
road is Lew Hoad Tennis Club, Restaurant and Bar which are open to the
public, and more local restaurants and bars are a short walk away. There
are small shops within walking distance and a supermarket (on the bus
route) 1km towards Fuengirola. WI-FI is available at the Club.
Beaches
There are long stretches of sandy beaches at Fuengirola, which is 10
minutes away by car or bus, and many other lovely beaches and coves,
such as Puerto Cabapino, stretching along the coast towards Marbella and
beyond. Beach-side restaurants, with sun beds and parasols are strung
out all along the coast.
Sports
Tennis can be played at Lew Hoad Tennis Club on its magnificent courts,
surrounded by tropical gardens
and Moorish-style aquatic ponds and wildlife. There is also a
fitness gym, swimming pool and hair & beauty salon. Regular tournaments
and mix-ins are held and our guests are welcome to enter.
Private
tennis coaching is available.
Water sports of all kinds are on
nearby beaches and horse riding in wild countryside is available for
more advanced riders.
Golf
There are numerous well-known courses within easy reach of the
apartment. Mijas Golf Club is the closest, about 10 minutes away by car.
Entertainment
Bustling Fuengirola, with its ‘Old Town’ architecture, churches and
squares; its harbour and shops, Tuesday open air market, tapas bars,
restaurants, discos and nightclubs is
2km away.
The pretty
village of Mijas, one of
Andalucia’s ancient White Villages, with its narrow cobbled streets,
museum, art gallery, ceramics, restaurants and fabulous views,
is 4km away.
Travel
Car hire companies are located close to Malaga Airport where you will be
met and taken to your car. There are numerous taxis and a frequent train
to Fuengirola. Here you will find the
railway and bus stations and taxis.
There is an excellent half-hourly
bus which travels continuously between Fuengirola and Mijas and stops at
the end of our local road leading to the apartments. All areas along the
coast can be easily visited from the apartments. The main bus station at
Fuengirola is the starting point for many interesting visits to coastal and inland places. Gibraltar, Ronda, Granada and Nerja are day-trips and
Marbella, and sophisticated Puerto Banus are a 35 minute drive away.
Climate
The temperate climate in this part of Spain, where the sun nearly always
shines, means tennis and golf can be played year round. The summers are
hot, up into the high 30s, autumn and
spring are wonderful times and the winters are mild in daytime and cool
at night.
If you are looking for somewhere
peaceful, where you can just relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings
and beautiful views, then Lew Hoad Tennis Village is for you. You do not
have to be a tennis player to enjoy it, most of our guests are not!
